Law Firms of Skadden and Simpson Top Lists of First Quarter M&A Rankings

The law firms of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom and Simpson Thacher & Bartlett have made it onto three separate rankings of mergers and acquisitions advisers for the first quarter of 2014, according to The Am Law Daily.

In the first quarter charts released this week, the two firms ranked as the top firms on the lists, which were released by Bloomberg, Mergermarket and Thomson Reuters.

Trends in the mergers and acquisitions market are tracked by the three outlets. The latest rankings are based on the total value of the corporate clients global transactions in the first three months of 2014 for the law firms.

Skadden was atop the rankings from Thomson Reuters and Bloomberg, beating out the firm of Simpson Thacher. In the rankings from Mergermarket, Simpson Thacher took home the top spot. On all three of the lists, White & Case came in at number three.
Simpson Thacher is the only firm at the top of the lists this year that appeared at the top of the lists for the first quarter in 2013.

Also in the rankings from the three outlets was law firms being listed based on the total number of deals announced by the firms’ clients in the first three months of 2014. The firms that topped the lists for this category include Jones Day and Kirkland & Ellis.
