Dean Harvey Joins Perkins Coie in Dallas

Perkins Coie is keeping on strengthening its Dallas office, and Dean W. Harvey is the tenth lawyer and sixth partner to join the office within the last 12 months. Harvey was a partner at Andrews Kurth in Dallas, which he left to join Perkins Coie as a partner in the Technology Transactions & Privacy practice.

Harvey focuses his practice on technology and business process related commercial transactions and data privacy and security. He places emphasis on healthcare information technology, retail and communications as an area of practice.

Before practicing law Harvey worked in the software industry for ten years.  He started his technical career at EDS Research and Development, where he created expert systems.  He went on to specialize in communications device driver and operating systems development on behalf of companies such as IBM and CalComp before starting his own software consulting company in 1992.

He has counseled Fortune 100 clients on multimillion dollar software development projects; SaaS providers in establishing and operating websites; technology companies in various data licensing transactions; and telecommunications software providers.

Harvey earned his J.D. from The University of Texas School of Law, Order of the Coif, and received his B.S., summa cum laude, from West Virginia University.
