The Boeing 757 with 179 passengers and six crew members, landed without incident at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. The Delta Air Lines flight 2412, which was traveling from Orlando to Atlanta, Georgia on Sunday, reportedly lost a panel on one of its wings during the flight. Delta is the sixth-oldest operating airline by foundation date, and the oldest airline still operating in the United States.
A spokesman for Delta Air Lines Anthony Black, said that “Crew members aboard Flight 2412 reported an access panel had come off the plane’s wing while in flight,” according to CNN News. The detached panel did not impact the aircraft’s ability to fly or land.
“The problems with the wing did not affect the plane’s ability to fly or operable change in flight,” reported Black, adding that the incident was also “highly unusual.” It has been reported that Delta operates 4,932 flights per day, the carrier operating the largest fleets of Boeing 757, Boeing 767, and Airbus A330 aircraft of any US airline.
