Perkins Coie Announces Addition of Paul H. Cohen in New York Office

The law firm of Perkins Coie has announced via a press release that it has added Paul H. Cohen at its office in New York. Cohen will work as a partner in the firm’s Commercial Litigation practice. Cohen comes to Perkins Coie from Thompson & Knight, also in New York.

“Paul is an accomplished international arbitration practitioner with an incredible amount of experience around the world.  He is a welcome addition to Perkins Coie’s growing New York presence,” said Schuyler Carroll, Office Managing Partner of Perkins Coie’s New York office.  “With New York City being a major arbitral center, Paul’s addition brings an important new component to the firm’s commercial litigation practice in New York.  We are delighted he has joined our firm.”

Cohen has experience with arbitration cases for clients on national and foreign matters. He has helped clients with the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, U.S. Trade Sanctions and the U.K. Bribery Act implementation. Cohen has worked on cases in the jurisdiction of the United States Department of Justice, the Office of Foreign Assets Control, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, the Autorité des Marchés Financiers in France and the U.K. Financial Services Authority.

“Paul is well respected in global legal circles for his expertise in international arbitration matters,” said Joe Mais, chair of Perkins Coie’s Commercial Litigation Practice.  “Paul’s addition to the firm enhances our ability to support our rapidly expanding international arbitration practice and to provide our clients the guidance that they rightfully expect and demand.  I speak for all of us when I say Paul is very welcome at Perkins Coie.”

Cohen will serve as the co-chair with partner Steve Koh for the International Arbitration sub-group.

“I am very pleased to have the opportunity to work with Paul, a recognized authority in the field, to expand our work for clients who increasingly find themselves arbitrating international commercial and investment disputes,” Koh said.
