Real-Life Barbie Wants to Survive on Air and Light Alone

Valeria Lukyanova is a Ukrainian model who declared herself a real-life Barbie doll, according to The Huffington Post. Lukyanova has said that she eventually wants to live without drinking or eating.

The International Business Times has reported that Lukyanova has reached her goal to survive “on air and light alone.” She has caused controversy in the past for her doll-like looks and incredibly thin waistline.

“In recent weeks I have not been hungry at all,” Lukyanova said. “I’m hoping it’s the final stage before I can subsist on air and light alone.”

The International Business Times linked to an article about Breatharianism. This is when followers of the diet, which is New Age, do not drink or eat. They have a belief that they can survive on “cosmic micro-food.”

Lukyanova said she is a believer of reincarnation and has contacted transdimensional beings. She has said that she uses what she looks like to promote her “spiritual ideas.”

Breatharianism is not as uncommon as you might think. A 65-year-old woman from Seattle claimed to have survived 47 days last year living on just tea and water. The woman, Naveena Shine, had a goal to maintain the fasting for 100 days. She said that she stopped the fast because she received “a message from the universe that it is time to stop.”

As of right now, there has been at least one death tied to Breatharianism.
