This week in the Charlotte Business Journal, the largest law firms in North Carolina are listed and ranked by number of attorneys. It is also interesting to note that the number of attorneys is also correlated to the number of paralegals, assistants, associates, and other legal professional support staff. When considering the number of attorneys, one would note the sheer size of some of these firms listed below. Notably, since the number of attorneys drive their support and auxiliary staff in the firm, it is also interesting to note that these same attorneys literally are an economic engine unto themselves, as their PPP becomes GDP and creates the need for their associates, legal staff, paralegals, secretaries. Ultimately these lawyers are drivers of their economies.
Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice, based in Winston-Salem ,North Carolina was established in 1876 by Cyrus Watson and W.B. Glenn. They formed a partnership in Winston, North Carolina, under the name Watson & Glenn. The law firm made the top of the list with 323 attorneys. Moore & Van Allen, based in Charlotte came in second with 255 attorneys. Here is the list of North Carolina’s largest law firms:
