New Balance Fresh Foam 980 Final Review

this is a compensated post, however all opinions are my own

Last Wednesday evening I head to Fleet Fleet Chicago for the New Balance Fresh Foam 980 launch party. The party was packed with runners excited to try out the new Fresh Foam running shoes. After finding Maggie and Erica, we headed out for a three mile fun run with the group.

To be honest – I hadn’t run outside for months! It was just too cold for my taste. Luckily we survived the run and I had a good time catching up with my running buddies.

When we returned, Fleet Feet and New Balance had set up fun cotton candy drinks in beakers, a baked potato bar, and an awesome foam pit. Maggie and I had to take a jump in the pit and got some entertaining photos out of it. This was by far my favorite:

I had to show off the cool colors on the bottom of the shoe! I had a great time at the New Balance Fresh Foam 980 launch and loved that everyone was so excited about the new shoe that I’m already enjoying so much!

After running in the New Balance Fresh Foam 980s for a few weeks, I finally feel like I can give them a real review.

As I mentioned before, I couldn’t believe how light the shoe felt when I put it on. It looks thick and heavy but the foam material is so light that you don’t feel any weight when you’re wearing them. The top part is a thick, breathable mesh which is so comfortable on my feet. Sometimes I’ll have problems with shoes rubbing the top of my foot, but these have been really comfortable.

I’ve worn them on both shorter speed runs and longer runs (6 miles this past week, running 7 this weekend!) and they’ve felt comfortable, lightweight and supportive all at the same time.

And come on, the color doesn’t hurt either.

If you’re in the market for a new running shoe, I definitely recommend trying these on and seeing how they work for you. To learn more about Fresh Foam, head to their website with great videos and a map with reviews of the shoe from runners across the world.

What brand of running shoe are you wearing now?

What’s your favorite color for a running shoe?
