Former Madoff Aide Claims He Was Manipulated

An executive that worked for Bernard Madoff on his $17 billion Ponzi scheme should be stopped from calling a witness on “corporate psychopaths” so he can claim he was ruthlessly manipulated.

According to a filing in Manhattan court, by Assistant U.S. Attorney Mathew Schwartz, the ex-operations chief of Madoff’s broker dealer unit, Daniel Bonventre, wants Paul Babiak, “one of the worlds leading experts on corporate psychopaths,” to testify for him. He probably won’t because he’s never met Madoff or diagnosed him.

In the filing Schwartz wrote the Babiak can’t “reliably diagnose Mr. Madoff as a psychopath and testify about his skills in manipulating those around him on the basis of news reports and YouTube videos.”

This the first of many up coming trials that are associated with the Madoff scandal. Five former colleagues are on trial emanating from the scam. Babiak hopes his testimony will help defense lawyers show how Madoff had the intelligence to hide the U.S.’s biggest Ponzi scheme from his closest associates for years. Of those hurt by Madoff, the Wilpons -the notable owners of New York’s other baseball team, the Metropolitans, went completely bankrupt as Madoff raided the Wilpons’ trust. So that the baseball team unfortunately, can’t afford to hire stellar players and have kept a habit of training triple A players to get on board with the major leagues. Lets Go Mets! The Wilpons were just another victim of the corporate psychopath Bernie Madoff.
