On the popular blog site Cheezburger.com, they have shared a Twitter post by renowned literary horror genius Stephen King directed at tween musical sensation and recent bad boy, Justin Bieber. Justin Bieber, who was discovered in 2008 on YouTube, became the first artist to have seven songs from a debut record to chart on the Billboard Hot 100.
The author, King writes in his post, ” Memo to Justin Bieber: For the young celeb, life is a banquet of free food. What they don’t tell you is that you are often the last course.”
Born in Scarborough, Maine, Stephen Edwin King is the author of contemporary horror, suspense, and science fiction and fantasy books. His books have sold more than 350 million copies and many of them have been adapted into popular feature films, television movies and comic books.
When Stephen King was a child, King apparently witnessed one of his close friends being struck and killed by a train, though he has no memory of the event. His family told him that after leaving home to play with the boy, King returned, speechless and seemingly suffering from shock. Only later did the family learn of the friend’s death. Some people have suggested that this event might have psychologically inspired some of King’s darker works.
Stephen King is a seasoned veteran in “the business.” With all of his recent personal and professional troubles, Justin Bieber should really listen to King’s advice about how to avoid being served up raw or worse yet, getting your just desserts. Interestingly, stars have reached out to Miley Cyrus as well, cautioning her to avoid showing her body too provocatively, but these kids these days, with their multimillion dollar world tours- things are just in one ear and out the other with them these days. Morbidly, I remain uncertain as to whether King’s allusion to Bieber was as a metaphor of our consumer culture, or just as a hyperbole for a morbid and perverse taste.
