Baby Does a Double Take

There are a lot of double takes in the video posted on Cheezburger.com. Basically, a baby was baffled when she saw her father and his twin together. Telling twins apart when your an adult is hard enough. In the video the baby’s confusion is clear; this  is what happens when she met for the first time someone who looks exactly like her dad; his twin brother, her uncle.

After she’s carried into her uncle Herbie’s house by her father, the bewildered little girl’s eyes open wide and she glances back and forth between the two men. She only becomes more confused as she’s passed into her uncle’s arms, while the rest of her family hoots with laughter at her response. She is given back to her father.

“There’s two of us, huh? You’re confused,” Herbie says. But she quickly warms up to her new relative. At the end of the video the adorable girl shares a high five and a fist bump with her uncle.

The twin birth rate in the United States rose 76% from 1980 through 2009, from 18.9 to 33.3 per 1,000 births. Women who have a family history of fraternal twins have a higher chance of producing fraternal twins themselves.

Twins appear in the mythologies of many cultures around the world. Twins in mythology are often cast as two halves of the same whole, sharing a bond deeper than that of ordinary siblings, or otherwise shown as fierce rivals.
