60 Second Anti-Speeding Ad

Cheezburger.com has an article posted on their blog titled, “This New Zealand Anti-Speeding Ad Needs Only 60 Seconds to Break Your Heart.” The video advertisement featured is intent on provoking a strong emotional response. New Zealand and the U.K. are known for providing viewers with shocking content in past ads.

I was taught to drive like everyone else on the road driving was learning how to drive that day, every day.
The ad shows how both drivers are at fault. The ad is not really about speeding, or about failing to stop at the intersection that is sign-posted. The ad is pointing out that we all make mistakes and most people over-estimate their driving skills. The driver who goes through the intersection failed to come to a COMPLETE stop – if he had, he would have perhaps gauged the other vehicles speed better. He made a mistake. The speeding driver was exceeding the posted speed limit by 10 km at least and perhaps more if the speed limit was 80 or even 70 in that area. If the driver had not been speeding, then other vehicle may have got through the intersection, or he may have had time to take evasive action. This was his mistake. So, like I said – both are at fault and that’s the point, watch what you are doing!
