Sidley Austin LLP Acquires Global-Contending Lawyer

Sidley Austin LLP continues to triumph as one of the highest ranked firms of all time, certainly in the U.S., with their acquisition of the best-of-the-best lawyers in the nation. Their latest pull is Ram Burshtine, who has joined their New York office as a partner in the Global Finance practice.

“Ram’s considerable experience in event-driven and corporate finance matters strengthens the broad range of capabilities currently provided by the talented lawyers in our Global Finance practice,” said Gary Stern, co-global coordinator of Sidley’s Global Finance Practice. “He will be a great asset to the team in New York, and his arrival enhances our overall ability to meet the needs of all of our shared clients around the world.”

He was referring the clients served by their more than 1,800 lawyers in 19 global offices. What does Burshtine bring to such a sprawling enterprise? Within the last few years alone he has represented clients concerned with over $6 billion in transactions. To advise on such figures, Burshtine is maximizing his experience which focuses on leveraged domestic and cross-border acquisition and recapitalization financing transactions. This is his area of expertise. It goes along with a series of related and specific capacities including leveraged and investment grade financing, leveraged cash-flow and asset-based syndicated credit facilities, and a wealth of other debt-related capacities that give him that extra edge you would expect for somebody so eagerly picked up by Sidley Austin in one of their hottest departments, their New York office.

“Ram is an experienced and skilled finance practitioner with an impressive track record of advising top-tier clients” summed up Michael J. Schmidtherger, managing partner of the firm’s New York office. “We are pleased to welcome him to our international team of transaction lawyers focused on providing strategic and real-time counsel to clients addressing the latest developments in the global finance market.”

Bringing a world-contender to the world scene is what Sidley does best, and so we congratulate Burshtine on joining a firm that fits his power.
