He will be joining as a partner. Potter Anderson, founded in 1826, is the oldest law firm in Delaware. Steele will be leaving his post two years earlier before his tenure is set to expire.

The Executive Chairman of the firm, Donald J. Wolfe Jr. released a statement saying, “We are honored that Chief Justice Steele, who surely was presented with an array of attractive opportunities upon completion of his tenure, has chosen to become a part of our firm.”

Wolfe observed about Steele, that “During his sparkling 25-year judicial career, he has served on all three of Delaware’s constitutional courts, led what most would agree is the most respected state judiciary in the country, and served as Delaware’s judicial ambassador at large …”
