VIRAL VIDEO: Baby Moved to Tears by Mother’s Singing

This video shows that even an infant can be moved to tears by beautiful singing, especially if that wonderful voice is mommy’s. Though the video is brief, and you might question whether the infant, who is listening to her mother sing “My Heart Can’t Tell You No,” is really tearing up over the soulful tones, or, as the news commentators wondered, whether her diaper just needed to be changed, little Mary Lynne Leroux, who is ten months old, tears up every time her mother sings to her.

Her mom, Amanda Leroux, claims to be too shy to sing publicly, but has found a warm and dedicated audience in her daughter. Children, who can hear music even in the womb, and who are born able to recognize not only their mother’s voice, but even their father’s, if he often spoke while the children was gestating, quickly develop an emotional reaction not so much to words and semantics, which are picked up later, but to tones and emotions.

Crooning those soft and tender lullabies to your infant is a good thing: making a simple love song for your infant, and singing it to him or her each night before bed, is a sure way to make your baby love you, and when he or she wakes up, to seek out your voice and smile first.
