Brown Rudnick Launches Latin American Practice

Brown Rudnick expanded its Corporate Practice by beginning a new Latin American Practice Group with the hire of Alejandro Fiuza to join the law firm’s Boston and New York offices as a partner for the Corporate Practice Group. Fiuza will chair the new Latin American Practice Group.

According to the release made by the firm, the Latin American Practice Group will be advising US businesses and global clients in cross-border transactions in Latin America. Practice focus would remain on acquisitions, private equity, venture capital, joint ventures, corporate finance and strategic alliances.

Fiuza is the fifth high-profile lawyer to join as a partner this year in the firm’s Corporate Practice Group. Other new additions this year include Tim Matthews and Sophie McGraith in London, Adolfo Garcia in Boston and Numan Siddiqi in Orange County.

Before joining Brown Rudnick, Fiuza coordinated the Latin American Practice at K&L Gates. He is a former partner of Marval O’Farrell & Mairal, Argentina’s largest law firm, where he was the co-chair of the International Trade Practice and Private Equity & Venture Capital groups.

Fiuza also worked as a law professor at the Universidad de Buenos Aires, the Universidad Torcuato Di Tella and the Southwestern University School of Law.

Joseph F. Ryan, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Brown Rudnick said that with “over 24 years of experience assisting clients in cross-border transactional work, with a particular focus on Latin America, Alejandro is the ideal lawyer to help launch our Latin American practice. Alejandro will be of tremendous value to our clients who have global business interests in that region.”

On his part, Fiuza said Brown Rudnick was well placed with its offices on the East Coast and West Coast in the US and in London, and the firm excelled in “building teams capable of providing integral cross-border legal solutions to clients…”
