Two Florida Homeowners’ Law Firms Merge

Law firm mergers, both small and big continue happening across the legal landscape. While Cooley LLP recently announced absorbing Washington based Dow Lohnes , on the other side of the nation, two small Florida law firms announced their merger.

Altamonte Springs-based Taylor & Carls PA and Fort Lauderdale-based Becker & Poliakoff PA, both serving condo and homeowner associations, announced on Monday that they are merging effective Dec. 1. Taylor & Carls, P.A. has offices in Orlando, Tampa, and Palk Coast.

The 13 lawyers and 36 administrative staff of Taylor & Carls in Orlando would be relocating to the office of Becker & Poliakoff in the city. The Altamonte Springs office of Taylor & Carls will remain open as the Community Association Collections & Foreclosure operations center for the newly combined law firm.

According to the press release, Robert Taylor and Harry Carls, the founders of Taylor & Carls will serve as co-office managing shareholders for the new entity’s Orlando office and for all of Central and northeast Florida.

Gary Rosen, managing shareholder of Becker & Poliakoff said in a statement, “This is an outstanding opportunity to enhance our position in the important Central Florida market and it represents a springboard for growth into new markets, including northeast Florida.” Rosen also expressed his delight at the decision of Taylor & Carls to join Becker & Poliakoff and said, “Taylor & Carls is the pre-eminent condominium and homeowner association law firm in Central Florida. We are delighted that they have decided to join Becker & Poliakoff.”
