DLA Promotes Richard Hans to Their Most Competitive Office in NYC

DLA Piper, the world’s highest grossing firm, has recently promoted a partner to the world’s most competitive city for litigation: New York. Richard Hans, 51, will be co-managing their Manhattan office alongside Heidi Levine, while continuing to chair their New York litigation practice.

Along with retaining responsibilities from his old role, such as representing financial institutes, he will now in his new role manage office operation and personnel communications between offices.

The job is high responsibility, as the New York office has a stake in economic competition.

“The biggest challenge here in New York is, the competition in this city is as strong, if not stronger, than anywhere else in the world,” Hans said, as the New York Law Journal reported. “It is challenging because there are really good lawyers that are looking to go after the same business that we’re going after. In this economy, where clients are keeping their cards close to the vest, there is not as much business to go around both on the corporate side and the litigation side.” But, he added, “I’m exited to take on the role.”

Becoming the world’s highest grossing firm does not happen by accident, but by assiduous vigilance, so the new role necessarily comes with the expectations of high performance and imminent excellence.
