Jody Sheets Rejoins Texas Law Firm Hicks Thomas

Well known civil litigation attorney, Jody Sheets, who has been practicing for more than 42 years and representing both plaintiffs and defendants in a variety of civil litigation cases, is rejoining Hicks Thomas LLP in its Dallas office. Sheets left Hicks Thomas about a decade ago.

Sheets, who is among the top civil litigators in Texas included in the annual Texas Super Lawyers list, is certified in civil trial law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Over the years, Sheets has handled litigation ranging from energy and contractual disputes to pharmaceutical litigation. He has won substantial verdicts and settlements on behalf of both plaintiffs and defendants.

One of the most publicized cases in Sheets’ career is his handling of a decade-long property dispute over shifting boundaries along the Canadian River. The matter, which was finally decided by the Supreme Court of Texas with a win for Sheets’ clients, who included a group of landowners including oilman T. Boone Pickens and the Whittenburg family of Amarillo.

Speaking on his return to Hicks Thomas, Sheets said, “I’ve known the lawyers at Hicks Thomas, particularly those in the Houston office, for many years … They’re a very talented bunch and I look forward to rejoining the firm in Dallas.”

Jody Sheets also represented the Trans-Pan Gathering Inc in the Liquid Energy Corp. v Trans-Pan Gathering Inc, and the gas sellers in Phillips Petroleum Co. v. Gillman.

Sheets has been on the list of Texas Super Lawyers from 2006 to the present, with his first inclusion on the list in 2004.
