What I Ate Wednesday–Job Search

Hey all! I hope you’re all having a good week – halfway through! Although, personally, I wish time would just slow down a bit! It’s finally fall here in Chicago and I pulled out my jacket for the first time since May!

For today’s WIAW, I’m showing you what I had yesterday, a day including a visit with my career counselor and some job hunting. If you’re new to What I Ate Wednesday, head on over to Peas and Crayons to find out what it’s all about!

I woke up bright and early, posted to my blog, had some coffee and got ready for the gym. My stomach started growling before I headed out, so I also had about 1/3 a banana before leaving.

I had 3 miles and an 18 minute strength workout from PurleyFit on the agenda. After working out, I headed home, showered, got dressed and then made breakfast: Chocolate Protein Oat Bran! It included the rest of that banana and Sunbutter. I like sunbutter, but not as much as almond butter. They have been out of AB at my Trader Joe’s for weeks and weeks… so this is what I bought. Oh well.

After breakfast I prepared for my meeting with my career counselor, which included double checking my resume and writing down a bunch of questions I had so I wouldn’t forget. Then I hopped on the bus and headed downtown! I was a little early so I hung out in school for about a half hour (kind of awkward…) and then had my meeting. Afterwards I walked about 2 miles to a Starbucks in the Gold Coast, stopping at a GNC to buy some Quest Bars on the way. I hadn’t had one in ages so for Lunch #1 I had a White Chocolate Raspberry Quest Bar, half a green Naked juice, and a skim cappuccino.

After a few hours at Starbucks I’d gotten frustrated with their poor internet and decided to head out. I stopped at Whole Foods on my way home and grabbed a salad which I ate when I arrived home for Lunch #2:

The salad included greens, carrots, beets, artichokes, sweet potatoes, chicken, parmesan cheese, and balsamic vinegar and olive oil.

For dinner I made a beef patty that I’d bought at Trader Joes (my apartment now smells like hamburgers…), with sautéed collards, asparagus and butternut squash. Served with ketchup; so classy.

For dessert I had a Blueberry Noosa yogurt, with some more sunbutter and about a TON of Ghirardelli Sea Salt and Almond Dark Chocolate. This stuff is like crack.

I also had several Chimes Ginger Chews throughout the day, and a couple samples while at Whole Foods. Always bites here and there that don’t show up in a WIAW post, which I’m sure is true of most participating bloggers!

What’s your favorite kind of nut butter? (or seed…)

Do you like to walk places instead of driving or taking public transportation?
