Morrison & Foerster Launches Office in Germany

On Tuesday, Morrison & Foerster LLP announced the launch of an office in Germany by recruiting the majority of lawyers in Hogan Lovell’s Berlin office. The law firm recruited nine former partners of Hogan Lovells and more than 20 associates and counsel. The law firm mentioned that the new team has a first-tier transactional and regulatory practice in the TMT area as also highly ranked practices in litigation, employment, tax, M&A, antitrust, real estate and other areas like privacy and data security.

The new office in Berlin is Morrison & Foerster’s third office in Europe. It also has offices in London and Brussels.

Larren Nashelsky, the chair of Morrison & Foerster LLP, said, “The German team, a widely recognized force for complex transactions, is the perfect fit for us … Our reputation as a global leader in technology mergers, acquisitions and other transactions is well-established. Our clients across the United States, Japan, China and Europe are doing the deals that are driving the fast-paced convergence in the TMT sector. The addition of the Berlin team enhances our ability to help our clients advance their business objectives in Germany and other key European markets.”

Christoph Wagner, a leading lawyer of the new group said, “We believe this combination will deliver many benefits to our clients and to MoFo’s well-known TMT clients across its offices in Tokyo, London, New York, Northern California and elsewhere. With MoFo, we build a bridge from Berlin to Silicon Valley to carry our clients at high speed in both directions.”

Robert Townsend, the co-chair of Morrison & Foerster’s Global M&A Group and a member of the firm’s executive committee opined that the launch of the Berlin office is in line with the firm’s long-term strategy of building its M&A practice in key technology and finance markets around the world.
