In a recent book entitled “What the Best Law Teachers Do,” based on a four-year study of extraordinary law professors, and written by Gerry Hess, professor at Gonzaga University School of Law; by Sophie Sparrow, professor at University of New Hampshire School of Law; and by Michael Hunter Schwartz, dean and law professor at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock William H. Bowen School of Law; the team agreed that among the 26 best were two Thomas M. Cooley Law Professors: Associate Dean Nelson Miller and professor Phillip Prygoski.

The book looked closely at the two professors, along with the others featured in the study, observing their classroom tactics and conduct with students, and wrote of them after leading long interviews with professors, deans, colleagues, students, and alumni.
“Cooley is extremely fortunate to have Nelson Miller and Phil Prygoski named as two of the ‘best law faculty’ in the country,” Cooley Law School Associate Dean of Faculty Charles Cercone said, according to the Lansing State Journal. “Cooley has strived to bring only the best practitioners into the rank of the school’s professors since its beginning in 1973. We are honored to have both Phil and Nelson on our team.”
To have two professors from the same school make the list as an honor, and reinforces the high opinion many have of Cooley’s successful program.
