Dakota Johnson and Charlie Hunnam to Star in “50 Shades of Grey”

Well, rumors turned out to be true regarding Dakota Johnson: she will indeed be given the star role of Anastasia Steele, of the much anticipated “50 Shades of Grey” movie that is due to come out Aug. 22, 2014. Alongside her will star Charlie Hunnam as the titular character, Christian Grey. Fans can now bellyache that he ain’t no Grey and “that’s not how I imagined Anastasia” and so forth, while the rest of us are amazed they even read that book, let alone cared enough to have such strong opinions.

Johnson is the daughter of Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith, and was in the brief Fox sitcom “Ben & Kate,” as well as showing up in “the Social Network,” and “The Five-Year Engagement.” Charlie Hunnam has starred in the hit FX series “Sons of Anarchy” and the film “Pacific Rim.” They were selected out of a wider pool for what some are calling “highly coveted roles.”

The first installment of E L James erotic trilogy, “50 Shades of Grey,” will be directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson, and will satiate the appetite of fans next August. It will probably be rated R, and not X, so that we need not be overly concerned if, say, a friend’s mother asks to come along. Still, might be creepy.
