Hanna Anderson Texted and Chatted with Her Abductor

California teen Hannah Anderson was abducted by a family friend. This 40 year old man, James DiMaggio is also suspected of killing her mother and brother. DiMaggio was known to her family as ‘uncle Jim’. He allegedly killed 44 year old Christina Anderson and her son Ethan. The two bodies were discovered after James DiMaggio “set fire to his home in Boulevard, a tiny town 65 miles east of San Diego, according to USA Today.

Hannah had exchanged letters and text messages with that man before she was kidnapped. The teen was in tears while she discussed the relationship she had with her kidnapper in an exclusive interview with NBC. The teen admitted to having exchanged text messages and 13 phone calls with Mr. DiMaggio.

The teen talked about how James DiMaggio was friendly to her and supportive of her during tough times. During the period when Hannah was not getting along with her mother, DiMaggio would talk to her and help her solve her problems constructively. “Me and him would talk about how to deal with [my problems with my family] I’d tell him how I felt about it, and he helped me through it. They weren’t anything bad. They’re just to help me through tough times.”

Hanna was not aware that her mother and brother were dead. She says her brother had a big heart and her mother raised her to be strong. Her father came to her to help her deal with the situation. “He flew out to Idaho to the hospital to come visit me. It was helpful and it got us closer.”

Kidnapper DiMaggio made Hanna his beneficiary of his $112,000 life insurance plan. A spokesman for the DiMaggio family wanted a DNA test to make sure if DiMaggio was Hannah and Ethan’s biological father. A spokesman for Hannah’s father provided the DNA that helped to identify Ethan’s body in the burned home. Hannah Anderson is currently healing from the trauma of her captivity.
