Eggs, Coffee, Toast, and Soft Porn in the Morning – One Mom Draws a Line in the Sand

Mother of 8 year old Andy, Rebeca Seitz had an unexpected turn of events last Thursday. On the lazy summer day, she was having a wholesome breakfast with her family and small children watching ABC’s “Good Morning America.” She was unsuspecting, and pouring juice, when a steamy soft-core porn ad came streaming into her dining room. 2 naked adults seemed to be engaging in some sexual activity, with their embrace and shared kiss and missionary pose, coming in through the living from for her whole family to observe. Now she may have some questions to answer to her 8 year old.

In a rage, she could not believe what she just saw. The ad was for ABC’s new drama “betrayal,” which featured nude actors grinding on each other and making out. Rebeca Seitz wasn’t mad that there is sex on TV, or that ABC had a show featuring sexy betrayal, but rather that the morning cartoon time slot, had adult ads. She comments that her son saw the ad, “not because I took him to a movie wholly inappropriate for his age, not because I quit parenting and just told him to turn on the TV at 10pm and watch whatever.” Rather, it was a failure of standards and oversight on behalf of ABC, the upset mom felt. “I cannot ever be ok with naked people having sex in the middle of “Good Morning America. Sex is a beautiful exquisite gift between two people who are married.”

According to the Huffington Post, Seitz critics have accused her of censoring and over sheltering her child. She commented that the sex she saw on TV was “degrading” and was used as a tool to get ratings. She has filed a complaint with the FCC. She had put up the photo on Facebook, and the image of the couple in the TV ad that ABC ran in the morning was flagged for indecency and taken down.
