Thursday Thoughts

Anyone miss Thursday Thoughts? I did!!! Haha this is by far my favorite post of the week: an accumulation of many of the things running through my mind during the week, all saved up just for you!

1. This past Saturday, Emily, her husband, sister and friend came to Chicago and we all met up for lunch at Hannah’s Bretzel. We’ve been following each other’s blogs forever and it was great to meet her in person! And we’ll be seeing each again soon at Healthy Living Summit!

2. My favorite thing about Kansas City? Okay, I guess my family is my favorite. But my second favorite thing? Roasterie Coffee. I LOVE their coffee and I love sitting in their café.

3. Speaking of coffee, I spent a LOT of time in Starbucks in the two weeks leading up to the Bar Exam (class ended and we were on our own). Since I was there bright and early every morning, the manager started suggesting that I try their Clover machine coffee, which brews fancier coffee by the cup (yes, these are all the technical terms…). It was SO GOOD! Try it if you have a little extra time!

4. Do you ever re-wear outfits with different groups of people? Um, because I do. ALL THE TIME. For example, I wore these JCrew factory shorts and a tank top from Forever 21 (via my friend, Maddie) on Saturday for bookclub and then the next Saturday to meet up with Emily and then a couple school friends. #guilty #notashamed #selfiesonthetrain

5. My new quest in life? (other than getting a job…) Obtain all the Harry Potter Audiobooks. Seriously. I cannot find them available by streaming anywhere (like on Audible.com or iTunes) and I don’t want to pay full price for CDs so I’m looking in used book stores, but only found cassettes. Next I’m trying Ebay… Suggestions?

6. So I’ve discovered a box of old photos (like before I was born up until ‘93) in my attic and I’m going through them all and taking photos of a few real gems that I’ve found. Get excited.

7. After my time here in Kansas City, I’m heading out to Colorado Springs! I’ll be driving there with my Dad this time (usually I drive out with my mom) and I’m a little scared for him. Eight to nine hours in the car with me might be overwhelming. He’s already shut down my Harry Potter audiobook suggestion… Guess I’ll have to make some great playlists. Spice Girls, anyone?

8. To make Molly feel better about my leaving, I brought her a new toy. Check out those teeth! Vicious killer right there!

9. Speaking of pets, my goldfish, Neville, turns THREE tomorrow!!!! Can you believe it? I can’t! He survived all of law school with me!

This is my first photo of him ever. And yes, he’s still the same size.

Have you ever had a fish that’s lived a long time?

Are you an outfit repeater?

What do you do during long road trips?

Kathryn Wheeler: My name is Katie and I moved to Chicago in 2010 for law school and graduated in May 2013. I'm originally from Kansas City, MO and I did my undergrad at the College of Charleston in South Carolina. I started this blog in August of 2011 because I needed a creative outlet and I wanted to write about my life in a way that other women could relate to and realize that they aren’t alone in many aspects of their lives.
