Lindsay Lohan Leaves Rehab and Greets the World with a Smile

Well, things wrapped up as expected with troubled starlet Lindsay Lohan who finished her compulsory 90 days in a Malibu Rehab clinic as part of her plea deal of “no contest” in charges of breaking her parole when she crashed her car and lied to police about it. As this picture from TMZ suggests, she appears happy and eager to get on with her life, though she will be staying with a sober coach in Los Angeles for a few days while she gathers her wits. She also feels she needs a transition period before settling down in real life, as TMZ also reports, saying at one point that she would like to settle down in some obscure city and avoid the clutter and noise and temptations of large cities, crowds, and those camera-toting folk who stalk her.

Back in the world, she nevertheless has her celebrity to think of, and transitioning, we would hope, from the troubled starlet to the rebound girl will involve her new movie, “The Canyons” this Friday, as well has her guest-hosting “Chelsea Lately” on Monday, as well as sitting down with Oprah Winfrey who is interviewing her for a show that will air on OWN on Aug. 18. Winfrey has long become a sort of celebrity processing unit, where people like Lance Armstrong, or whoever else has some status, can confess his or her heart and reach something like voyeuristic solidarity with the public eager to have the sins of our celebrities explained to us.
