Woman Charged with Child Neglect After Leaving Young Children in Car at Lil Wayne Concert

A South Florida woman apparently couldn’t find a babysitter when she wanted to attend Lil Wayne’s “America’s Most Wanted” tour. Become herself wanted by the police, she decided to leave her two young children, who are ages 3 and 5, in the parking lot while she enjoyed the concert. Police caught up with her later.

Cruzan Amphitheater spotted the unwatched children at around 7p.m. and contacted police. They were left sitting in the parking lot on Sunday night (July 14). The theater worker alerted authorities, who waited for the return of their mother, Brittany Nicole Harris.

“[She had] the kids in her car [and] a lot of our deputies work those concerts and we have zero tolerance for nonsense,” said Deputy Eric Davis, as Radio.com reported.

When she left the concert, police were waiting for her. She explained that her cousin had in fact brought the children, but later gave up that excuse and admitted she simply left them in the car. The police subsequently charged her with two counts of child neglect, and she was released on $20,000 bail. Her court date has been set for August 13, and meanwhile child welfare workers have taken the children.

Admittedly, many parents have been tempted to leave a kid in the car while running in quickly to the grocery store – but doing such a thing for hours at a concert is unthinkable.
