Leah Remini has left Scientology behind her. After years of interrogations and thought modifications, her family was blacklisted and she walked away. Interrogations and thought modifications are some of the things that Scientologists do. Brooklyn born Leah first mentioned being a Scientologist in 2001 and has previously defended the church. She assisted other church members in attaining a higher level of religious practice.

Tony Ortega, former editor of the Village Voice and Scientologist expert, exposed the problems Remini had with the church this week. According to Mike Rinder, a Scientologist blogger, “drama surrounding Leah has been ongoing for some time.” Ortega mentioned that at the wedding of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, Leah Remini asked Miscavige’s wife, the best man at Tom Cruise’s wedding, where his wife was. According to Tony Ortega, Miscavige’s wife was at Lake Arrowhead, a secret Scientology facility, “kept out of sight.” After the wedding, Leah Remini criticized Miscavige and his leadership.

After she made her complaints, Remini was ordered to go to Scientology’s spiritual headquarters the “Flag Land Base” in Clearwater, Florida for “thought modification,” which consisted of extensive “sec-checking” and what the church calls the “Truth Rundown.”

On TonyOrtega.org, former Scientologist Bruce Hines explains what happens in the ‘Truth Rundown. “It’s a process, that is intended to convince a subject that whatever unethical or bad behavior he witnessed was only a delusional product of his own evil intentions. In other words, Leah Remini would have been under intense pressure to confess that it was her own evil intent that caused her to say something negative about David Miscavige.”

According to Tony Ortega, expert Scientologist, Leah Remini is someone who doesn’t sit quietly when something is wrong. When she knows injustices are happening, she will speak up. It is reported that Remini was forced to rescind her reports while being “modified” at Flag. An email that Leah Remini wrote about the events was published on Gawker. After that, Remini and her family were reportedly subjected to repeated questioning and hostility. Leah has since left Scientology. The Church of Scientology has lost a 30 year member of the church along with her mother and the rest of her family. Leah Remini’s mother has been a scientologist for 4 decades or more.

According to the Huffington Post, Leah remains convinced of the value of L. Ron Hubbard’s work, but will no longer tolerate the human rights abuses perpetrated in the church. Nor will she allow anyone to tell her who she can and cannot talk to or associate with. As a result, the church has lost one of its most effective supporters in the public relations arena, as well as her financial support.
