Access to Porn Through Apple Devices Ruined Man’s Life

A weird, wild, and unwieldy lawsuit filed in federal court accuses Apple of providing unfettered access to pornography, the ills of which has utterly devastated the plaintiff, a Nashville attorney. Chris Sevier, who is not currently practicing as an attorney, claims that the onus to filter adult content falls on Apple, which built the devices through which he first encountered and then became addicted to pornography. This addiction subsequently led to the end of his marriage and hospitalization.

As reported by Above the Law, the 50 page complaint outlines how Sevier first stumbled upon pornography through his Apple device, (accidentally replacing the “face” in “Facebook.com” with another four letter word that begins with “F”,) the ways in which access to pornography changed his romantic relationship with his wife (who, “no longer 21,” was no longer desirable to Sevier,) and that by providing access to unlimited pornography by the web, the company is hurting the pornography industry as a whole, particularly “mom and pop” porn shops.

“The plaintiff is a victim of Apple’s product that was sold to him without any warning of the damage the pornography causes,” reads the complaint. “‘But for’ the Plaintiff’s use of the Apple product, the quality of the Plaintiff’s life would have been much better and injury would have been avoided. The Plaintiff sustained these unwarranted damages in the course of using Apple’s product as designed. Apple’s product was not adequately equipped with safety features that would have otherwise blocked unwarranted intrusions of pornographic content that systematically poisoned his life.”

In addition to damages, Sevier’s complaint asks Apple to build their products with filters that would block access to adult content unless the user signs a release that is sent back to the company acknowledging the ills of pornography.

“As human beings themselves, Apple employees know that  a man is born full of harmonies and attacked to by women engaging in sexual acts with the intent to cause vicarious arousal,” confusingly reads the complaint.

Sevier himself was recently arrested for stalking country singer John Rich for allegedly sending Rich sexually suggestive emails, one of which appears to show a partially nude Sevier draped in an American flag and covered in blood. Prior to the arrest, Rich had filed two restraining orders against Sevier. A graduate from Vanderbilt Law School, Sevier is currently barred from practicing law in Tennessee because of “mental infirmity or illness.”
