Elisabeth Hasselbeck Bids Adieu to the View

Elisabeth Hasselbeck is leaving “The View” and joining Fox News’ morning show “Fox and Friends.” A report from the New York Times said on Wednesday that Hasselbeck’s last day is today, bringing her tenure on “The View” to an end. The people that began the show, famous stars Barbara Walters, Joy Behar and Elisabeth Hasselbeck will all be leaving the show by mid-2014. “The View” will have a whole new cast.

Fox News chief Roger Ailes commented on Hasselbeck’s move. “Elisabeth’s warm and engaging personality made her a star on “The View.” She has proven to be an excellent conversationalist and I am certain she will make a great addition to our already successful morning franchise.”

Staff rotation happens across industries. Lateral moves also shake up the media and entertainment business, and stars have different skill sets that they bring to the table to their media companies. There is no question that different shows and the people on them have vastly differing viewpoints and personalities. Just getting along with so many different views might be challenging. With her experience at “The View,” that likely won’t be a problem! Hasselbeck is known for being rather a good listener who is always smiling. The meshing of personalities with different cultures and in varying businesses is always interesting, especially as it is on morning TV, for regular viewership consumption.

The current host of “Fox & Friends,” Gretchen Carlson, will move to host a one hour daytime show in the fall and may also take over one of the two hours previously hosted by another star, who will move on to host a primetime show on Fox News, according to the Huffington Post. So the moves are planned and Elisabeth’s arrival is heralded with the shifts inside Fox itself. Elisabeth may also appear on famous prime time shows like the controversial Bill O’Reilly show.

According to the Huffington Post, the move makes a great deal of sense for everyone involved. Hasselbeck, who has been the house conservative on “The View” for years, will move to a program whose political views coincide perfectly with her own, dovetailing with her daytime experience. Though her departure form “The View” will likely bring a tear to many a fans’ eye, she is moving onto “Fox & Friends,” and will still be seen there. Elisabeth Hasselbeck is well known and her celebrity will be brought to Fox News to engage their audience. Her fans will continue to wish her all the best.
