Lil Snupe, an 18 year-old rapper who recently signed with Meek Mill’s Dream Chasers record label, was found dead from gunshot wounds in Winnfield, Louisiana.
The young rapper, whose legal name is Addarren Ross, was being mentored by Philadelphia rapper Meek Mill, and recently signed to the superstar’s record label. The two met when Snupe gave Mill a demo tape at Mill’s concert at Grambling State University. Snupe’s first mix tape, R.N.I.C., was released earlier this year and included contributions from DJ Khaled, Curren$y, Trae the Truth, Yo Gotti, and Mill.
Mill spoke about Snupe earlier this week, telling MTV News, “He was spittin so much pain, he’s from the South with a flow like an East Coast guy. Like with that bounce flow, all over the place, he can really spit, and he was talking that talk that I can really relate to. I seen potential in him.”
In addition to championing Lil Snupe, Mill was the one that broke the news of his death to public, and Snupe’s manager confirmed the news via social media.
MTV also reports that Rick Ross was interested in having Lil Snupe perform on an upcoming compilation record.
Early on Thursday morning, the Winnfield City Police Department responded to a call about a shooting at an apartment complex. When the police arrived, they found Snupe with two gunshot wounds in his torso. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The police currently have a suspect, but have not released the suspect’s name or status as the investigation continues.
Many have speculated that the shooting was related to a $100 dice game in which Snupe was a player.
