Two and a Half Men Gaining New Co-Star

Like a lot of television series, Two and a Half Men has had to face turbulent changes at times, losing, for instance, the star of the show Charlie Sheen after he had a sort of meltdown after struggling with personal demons. The show took Ashton Kutcher on board to replace him. Now the “half” man star of the show, Angus T. Jones, will fill only a recurring role in the show as he leaves for college, and so they are seeking a replacement. Some rumors speculate that the replacement will be a female, and Jon Cryer, the regular on the show, responded to these rumors while on the red carpet at the 2013 Tonys.

“I wouldn’t be surprised [if it were true]. But I have not been told [anything],” he said, as reported by ET.

He went on to say, “It has to feel right. It has to feel organic. It can’t just feel like somebody’s tacked on to the show. It can’t be our cousin Oliver. … They’re trying to see if that’ll work, but only if it’s organic, if it works with the show.”

This could lead to a philosophical speculation: how much can you change a show and still have it be the same show? How many lead roles can be alternated and yet have it be the same thing? At least Cryer will still be part of the show.
