105-Year-Old Woman Reveals the Secret of Longevity: Eat Bacon!

We’ve had enough MD nonsense about balanced diets adding years to your life, and all this rhetoric about exercise being some panacea that prevents cancer, helps your heart, improves your cholesterol, and every other health benefit under the sun. What about what Pearl Cantrell has to say? The 105-year-old woman has had plenty of time to think of her health, and to what does she contribute her longevity?

“I love bacon, I eat it everyday,” said Pearl Cantrell to NBC news, when asked what her secret was. “I don’t feel as old as I am, that’s all I can say.”

“I love bacon. I could eat it for every meal, and I do!” she said.

Oscar Mayer recently was impressed with the bacon evangelist, and took her on a ride in their Wienermoblie, ending the joyride with a large provision of the magical meat.

“I will never, ever forget this, for the rest of my life,” said Cantrell. Let’s hope that amounts to a very long time!

Meanwhile, she celebrated her 105th birthday with a three-day party involving 200 guests.

So is there anything to this longevity by bacon theory? A University of Zurich study has suggested that those who eat little or no red meat might be likelier to die earlier. However, the same study identified excessive bacon as correlated to bowel cancer. Perhaps a little moderation does the trick?
