Thursday Thoughts

Gooooood morning everyone! I hope you’re all having a great week! I can’t believe how quickly things are moving for me, after today I only have 1 week of classes left! That’s 3 weeks to graduation (and 3 weeks to the beginning of Bar exam prep…). Hopefully it will be August 1st before I know it! Aaaanyway, now that my time tangent is over, how about we get on to this week’s Thursday Thoughts?

1. Jealous much? A few of us saw a deal (living social, groupon, something?) for two of these shirts for like half off. I can’t remember, I was too excited. Everyone else opted to split the deal and each get 1 shirt. I refused to share and ordered two. Yep. The dinosaur t-shirt is by far my favorite and I die laughing when I wear it. Don’t worry, I’ve only worn it to book club and in my apartment so far…

2. Sarah wrote a great post on Monday about her love for Boston, the Boston Marathon, and her experiences last week. I was so impressed with how she was able to articulate her feelings and express the pride her city has.

3. My friend who lives in Denver is kind of obsessed with going to Goodwill and similar stores to find hilarious gifts. I received this lovely book in the mail yesterday:

At first I thought it was a self-help type book, like how to get a guy, but no, it’s a novel/chapter book. It’s hilarious. And published in 1985 (hence the hair…). Obviously it should be our next Chicago Blogger Book Club book…

4. I read this great article about the effect of social media (specifically using instagram as an example) on pre-teens and teenagers. I thought this was really interesting since I didn’t have facebook until I had a college e-mail address, but I can really understand the idea of “quantifying” your social worth.

5. In my school law class on Tuesday we watched an episode of Oprah from the early 90’s about religion in schools. When a woman was being interviewed she was saying something about sins and a girl next to me goes “the only sin here is that hairdo.” I burst out laughing for a solid minute. Well played. Well played.

6. On Tuesday I felt like I was getting sick so I headed to CVS and ended up putting a pharmacy in my purse… Currently okay, hoping it’s just allergies making me feel off… No time to be sick again.

7. I’m the secretary of my school’s Environmental Law Society (jealous much?) and we’re hosting a Trivia Night tonight as a fundraiser. I’m actually really excited about it because I’ve convinced Lindsay, Kelsey, Erin & Emily to come!

8. I love ending my Thursday Thoughts with a good quote, but this week I spent a liiiittle too much time on pic-monkey turning my friends’ images into quote pictures. How pretty are these? I’m obsessed.

I should spend less time on picmonkey

Do you like trivia?

What do you think about the effect of social media on the younger generations?
