WIAW–Intuitive Style

I have to admit, I was pretty resistant to sharing a day this week on my WIAW post. A lot of intuitive eating is trial and error for me, and despite updating you all on my progress, I consider it a pretty personal journey. Over the past week and a half many of my days have had really weird eating habits. Part of what we do is think about what we’re craving and then based on that decide what to eat. Well, I never really know what I’m craving, or I want a whole bunch of different things. Because of that, my meals turn into a bizarre montage of little snacks rather than a coherent meal.

I don’t know why it feels so personal, but a big part of me didn’t want to let everyone in on what I’ve been eating. Ha, maybe I’m just feeling moody right now. However, I decided yesterday that I would focus a lot of making meals, sitting down to eat them, and stopping when full, so I thought that using it as my WIAW post would force me to be better about that, and keep me from snacking out of the fridge. So here we go!

If you’re new to What I Ate Wednesday, head over to Peas and Crayons to find out what it’s all about and see the other bloggers who are participating.

I had intended to go run immediately when I woke up Tuesday morning, but my stomach was feeling really iffy so I hung around for a while and ended up getting really hungry. I made some oat bran with Designer Whey vanilla protein powder mixed in (basically my Chocolate Protein Oat Bran without the chocolate) and topped it with almond butter and half a mango sliced up. I realized I forgot to take a picture when I was almost done…

Oops.

After that I did some blog work, started outlining for one of my classes, and then headed off to the gym for a run. I didn’t know what I planned on doing, but I ended up finishing 4 miles! Pretty good when all I’d run in the past 10 days was 2 miles due to my sore throat. I ran a few errands, headed home, showered, and then got ready for lunch.

Here is where crazy craving girl comes in. I knew I wanted something green, but I also wanted a microwave muffin and yogurt. So I had both. I started out with steamed kale with some nutritional yeast and hummus on top:

And then had a pumpkin microwave muffin (this muffin from STUFT Mama but with egg whites) with almond butter and plain Greek yogurt with vanilla and stevia mixed in. Perfect!

After lunch I was really feeling chocolate, but wanted a warm drink, so I heated up some almond milk and mixed in a big spoonful of cocoa powder and stevia. It was perfect!

Right when I was about to head to my afternoon class I got really hungry, so I sliced up a banana for a quick snack:

After I got to school, I had a Quest bar during my class. Photo taken afterwards…

When I got home I was STARVING but I knew exactly what I wanted. I made a wrap with 1 egg + 1 egg white, steamed carrots and spinach, hummus and a Rudi’s wrap. It was perfect!

For my “dessert” I had some Fage Greek Yogurt, (plenty of) almond butter, honey and a microwave muffin. I keep trying to make a muffin to share with everyone, but again this wasn’t quite right… I’ll keep working on it. And I also had an un-pictured piece of dark chocolate.

And there you have it! A day of intuitive eating! By the end of the day I was glad I made it a WIAW day, because it really did force me to have set meals and sit down, despite how random they may have been…

If you’re not a WIAW participant, would you share your daily eats with a bunch of people? Why or why not?

What are you craving right now?

What’s your favorite kind of yogurt?
