McDermott Will & Emery Hires Former M&A Co-Chair of Clifford Chance

On Tuesday, McDermott Will & Emery LP announced that Brian Hoffman has rejoined the law firm as a partner at its New York office. Mr. Hoffman was formerly the Co-Chair of the M&A practice of Clifford Chance . He has more than 30 years of experience advising clients on dozens of public and private transactions.

Hoffman, who is now 54, returns to McDermott Will after working for 10 years at Clifford Chance. He helped Clifford Chance grow its practice in America by lateral recruitment of a number of high-profile M&A lawyers. Clifford Chance elected their regional managing partner Craig Medwick to succeed Hoffman and fellow co-chair John Healy, about a week ago.

Hoffman had been a partner from 1995 to 1999 at McDermott Will & Emery . He then joined Cadwalader Wickersham & Taft for a brief spell before joining Clifford Chance.

Hoffman is known for his expertise in advising clients on a broad range of matters including proxy fights, hostile takeovers, sales and divestitures, cross-border transactions, management and leveraged buyouts, acquisitions of distressed companies and domestic and international capital markets.
