What’s in My Make Up Bag?

Well, hello there!

Today Peace Love & Oats is going to take a spin in another direction… I often talk about running, exercising, food, randomness, my personal life and my thoughts, but I rarely mention looks or fashion. But, you all wanted to know more about me and my life, and this is something that’s a part of almost every day, so why not?

I definitely do NOT consider myself someone you should come to on make up advice. I didn’t wear any on a regular basis until probably senior year of high school, and never wore mascara until college; I thought it looked ridiculous on me since my eyelashes are blonde…

But, for anyone looking for a quick, simple make-up application for those of us who are… challenged, this is the place for you.

When I was a freshman in college I got a consultation with Bobbi Brown and used their corrector/concealer throughout college, along with Cover Girl powder foundation and Cover Girl mascara. Although this worked for me, I knew I could do better. I heard a lot of good things about Bare Minerals, from friends, articles, etc. so I decided to check it out when I was in the mall with Kelsey and Sierra (both fans of Bare Minerals).

Are you ready to dive in?

And yes, I spent way too much time on Pic Monkey messing with these photos. Best way to spend a Saturday morning.

In order of use:

1. Prime Time Original Foundation Primer

2. Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer and Corrector

3. Bobbi Brown Concealer Brush

4. bareMinerals READY SPF 20 Foundation

5. Warmth All-Over Face Color

6. Mineral Veil finishing powder

7. Full Flawless Face Brush

8. Flawless Application Face Brush

9. Cover Girl Lash Blast Volume Mascara

When I got my new Bare Minerals make-up, I bought their starter kit because it was a great deal – it came with everything you see above, including 3 brushes, for only $64.

I was skeptical when she pulled out this primer, but when I put it on my face it felt like silk. Seriously. This stuff is no joke. I will be buying more when this runs out.

After my primer, I put on my corrector and concealer. Under the eyes and on any blemishes I might have. I chose to keep using my Bobbi Brown stuff because, well, it was expensive. I wanted to use it up before getting anything else.

Next, it’s back to Bare Minerals! First you put on the basic foundation, then the “warmth” color, and finish it off with the mineral veil.

When I saw the warmth color I thought the woman was crazy. Is she blind?? I’m not that dark. But, once she put it on it added just a bit of color to my face but wasn’t very noticeable, I approved. Still not sure if the mineral veil does much… at least not for a girl on a budget. We’ll see if I buy more of that.

Finally, my go-to mascara from Cover Girl. I always mean to try a new kind, I just don’t even know where to begin. I also change back and forth between black and brown. My eyelashes are naturally blonde so sometimes I feel weird wearing black, but honestly there’s not a huge difference.

And TA DA!

Aren’t I perty? I’m enjoying my new make-up routine and the whole thing takes me about five minutes, which is fine by me. If I’m “going out” or trying a little harder, I add eye-liner and eye shadow to this routine… but no one wants to see my pathetic attempts at that. Baby steps.

What make-up products do you love?

How long does your routine take?
