WF Craziness & Book Club

Anyone else a huge Whole Foods fan like me? Well, for those of you who enjoy the store, you would LOVE their larger location here in Chicago. I go there almost every week with my sister in law, but I discovered my friends (Lindsay and Kelsey) hadn’t ever been, so clearly it was a must-do Saturday night activity.

You know you’ve met the right friends when they want to go to Whole Foods on a Saturday night…

We started off by getting dinner from the hot bar:

And then it was time to explore! Well, they explored and I just enjoyed watching them realize how amazing my Whole Foods location is.

One of my favorite experiences was the bulk foods section. Not only is the section HUGE but they have these scales and printers where you can place your item, type in the number, and then it prints out a label to put on it. The label includes the name of the item, the price and a barcode so the check-out person can just scan the item rather than typing in the number.

After I showed off my skills, Kelsey decided to give it a try!

And it worked! Print out your label with the barcode and slap it on!

I think she’s in love.

We made it out with a few good items, and a great laugh when some guy came up to us with a weird one-liner about Lindsay’s blue pants… and then proceeded to show us a picture of his friend in teal pants. We couldn’t get away quickly enough, or stop laughing.

On Sunday, it was time for book club! This month it was hosted by the lovely Erin. As usual, we had a lovely spread of food!

I brought these Miso Sweet Potatoes that I found on Daily Garnish. After announcing a couple weeks ago that I’d be bringing this, I was made fun of endlessly for not realizing Lindsay had brought the same thing a few times… #fail. It was still delicious.

Kelsey decided to give the letters on our wine glasses meanings. Can you guess which one is mine and which is hers?

Thanks, Kelsey…

Kelsey and I then proceeded to spend waaaay too much of our time taking “booping” photos and laughing hysterically. As you can see, most everyone was ignoring us. I probably would have too, we were obnoxious.

For about a thousand more of these, check out Kelsey’s post.

Alyssa, however, knows how funny we are:

As for the book, this month it was Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand. Aaaaand I didn’t read it. You probably guessed that since I’ve mentioned a few times over the last week that I hadn’t read it and probably wouldn’t. It sounds like a really good book, but honestly, I just couldn’t handle a heavy book right now. I actually didn’t read any books for fun during February. Gotta love law school.

However, many people DID read the book! If you’re interested in reading some reviews of Unbroken, you can find them here:

Do you love going to grocery stores?

Are you a potluck fan? What would you bring?
