Attorney from Babanikas, Ziedman and King Also a Talented Boxer

A lawyer from the Brockton firm of Babanikas, Ziedman and King, Aleksandra Magdziak Lopes, is also a boxer, according to The Boston Herald. Lopes is 32 and from Marshfield. She is also the eighth-ranked female welterweight boxer in the world. On February 15, she is scheduled to face the seventh-ranked boxer at the Mohegan Sun casino.

“It’s not easy. It boils down to discipline and time management,” Lopes said.

Lopes, who grew up in Poland, played volleyball and tennis as a child. At the age of 16 she came to the United States and first resided in Plymouth. At Plymouth South High School, Lopes was a member of the wrestling team.

Should Lopes win the fight on February 15 she will take over the number seven welterweight spot in the world. She said that boxing is solitary but she still has fun because her husband and trainer, Wayne Lopes, helps to keep it fun for her.

One of the partners at her law firm, Nick Babanikas, said that Lopes brings the same tenacity to work that she shows in the ring.

“She’s got the two separated. You could never tell she was doing both things with such zealousness and intensity,” he said.

Wayne Lopes said that when he and his fight teach boxing, “most of the guys have a hard time fighting her, until she hits them.”
