State lawmakers in Virginia are working to repeal the state law against “lewd and lascivious cohabitation,” according to the Richmond Times-Dispatch. There are some very interesting laws on the books in the state of Virginia, including the law against fornication, which is illegal under the Code of Virginia, Section 18.2-344.
Another statute, Section 18.2-361 is the “crimes against Nature” statute that prohibits oral sex. This includes married straight couples. The crime is a felony in the state. There have been efforts to repeal the law or reduce it to a misdemeanor have failed.
It is also illegal to transport anyone to any place if you think the person is going to go there for “illicit sexual intercourse.” You are also breaking the law if you tell someone where strip clubs or other illicit businesses are located in the state. The state law prohibits releasing “any information or direction to any person with intent to enable such person to commit an act of prostitution.”
In Virginia, adultery is a Class 4 misdemeanor. Obscenity is also a crime in the state. This includes dirty movies, dramas, plays, and photographs. The law does not allow ‘dominant’ themes that show ‘shameful or morbid’ sex interest.
With the lawmakers working to get rid of the lascivious-cohabitation law, the state will have taken 136 years to make it happen.
