Cleary Gottlieb Adds Henry Mostyn

It was reported back in July by Legal Cheek that Henry Mostyn was rejected for tenancy by 4 New Square after he was arrested with cocaine and ecstasy outside of a Shoreditch nighclub. Mostyn received his education at Eton and Oxford and is the son of High Court Judge Sir Nicholas Mostyn QC.

Now, it seems that Mostyn has been offered a position with the United States law firm of Cleary Gottlieb. It has been reported that Mostyn has joined the Brussels office at Cleary Gottlieb. He is going to focus on competition law as an associate.

When Mostyn was arrested in May on the drug possession charges, his attorney, Richard Todd QC, was worried that the charges could prevent his client from gaining significant employment in the near future.

At the time, Todd said the following: “The caution [given by the police to Mostyn when he was caught with the drugs] itself has an impact – it will have a bearing on future applications, whether for [crown court] recorder or Queen’s Counsel. It is going to have an impact on visas and a very lucrative line of work – working overseas…Mr Mostyn wants to work in the commercial work and it may well be he’ll have to forget about that.”
