Cantey Hanger Elects Seven New Partners

The law firm of Cantey Hanger has announced through a press release that seven attorneys have been elected partner at the firm. The seven attorneys include Mary Hazlewood Barkley, Brad D’Amico, Paul Hendry II, Katie Lackey, Todd J. Liles, John Polzer and Philip A. Vickers.

“Recognition of this sort, especially from the management committee, is gratifying,” said Steve Tatum, the managing partner at the law firm. “Cantey Hanger continues to be a prominent firm after 130 years in Fort Worth because of our history of quality hires that exhibit great passion and develop expertise. We are happy these seven will assist in asserting Cantey Hanger’s quality work and reputation for years to come.”

Barkley’s practice focuses on Eminent Domain/Property Rights, Commercial Litigation and Appellate Law. Barkley earned her license to practice law in 2005, joining the firm after serving as a judicial clerk for Chief Justice John Cayce at the Second Court of Appeals in Fort Worth. She earned a business degree at Tulane and graduated from St. Mary’s University School of Law in 2005.

D’Amico’s practice focuses on oil and gas and securities. D’Amico graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Southern Methodist University. He graduated from the New England School of Law in 1992.

Hendry’s practice focuses on Banking and Real Estate. He graduated from Texas Wesleyan University School of Law in 2004 after spending 20 years in the banking industry. Hendry worked as a clerk for Justice Bob McCoy in the Second Court of Appeals in Fort Worth before entering practice. He earned a B.B.A. in Management at the University of Texas at Arlington.

The practice focus for Lackey includes Appellate, Commercial Litigation, Family Law and Litigation. Lackey graduated from Texas Wesleyan University School of Law in 2005, which is when she joined the firm. She also holds a B.A. in Marketing from Baylor University.

Liles’ practice focuses on Title Insurance Litigation, Real Estate Litigation and general Commercial Litigation in state and federal courts in the state of Texas. In 1993, he graduated from Baylor with a B.B.A. in Economics. He earned his law degree from Baylor in 1996.

Polzer has a practice that includes Appellate, Commercial Litigation, Construction Law, Officer and Director Liability/Fiduciary Duty and Oil & Gas. He works as an adjunct professor at Texas Christian University. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Science at the University of Texas and a law degree at the University of Houston Law Center.

Vickers is the firm’s pro bono coordinator and belongs to the litigation practice group at the firm. He has degrees from Hillsdale College and the University of Texas School of Law.

Jim Vassallo: Jim is a freelance writer based out of the suburbs of Philadelphia in New Jersey. Jim earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications and minor in Journalism from Rowan University in 2008. While in school he was the Assistant Sports Director at WGLS for two years and the Sports Director for one year. He also covered the football, baseball, softball and both basketball teams for the school newspaper 'The Whit.' Jim lives in New Jersey with his wife Nicole, son Tony and dog Phoebe.
