Snoop Lion Facing Possible Lawsuit from Rastafarians

Snoop Lion, also affectionately known as Snoop Dogg, has angered some Rastafarians, according to TMZ. The group claims that he lied about becoming a Rastafarian just so he could make a movie and sell some records. Now, they have threatened to sue him for it.

One of the original members of Bob Marley and the Wailers, Bunny Wailer, said that he is angered over the docu-film “Reincarnated.” The movie documented the immersion into the Rasta culture by Snoop as he was recording his very first reggae album in Jamaica last year.

According to Wailer, Snoop has taken part in “outright fraudulent use of Rastafari Community’s personalities and symbolism” and has not met “contractual, moral and verbal commitments.”

A seven-page demand letter has been sent to Snoop by the leaders of the Ethio-Africa Diaspora Union Millenium Council expressing their disgust too. In the letter, they made it clear to Snoop that “smoking weed and loving Bob Marley and reggae music is not what defines the Rastafari Indigenous Culture!”

In the end, they want Snoop to drop the name “Lion” and pay for the “financial and moral support” they claim he committed. They also want him to issue an apology. They said that if Snoop does not do this they will sue him. Snoop has not commented on the issue.
