Connecticut Lawyer Tentatively Withdraws Suing the State $100M Over Newtown School Massacre

The Connecticut attorney who wishes to sue the state for $100 million on behalf a 6-year old surviving girl has tentatively withdrawn his claim. His intended suit would hold the state accountable for lack of sufficient security to handle what turned out to be one of the deadliest school shootings in U.S. history. He has received new information on Sandy Hook Elementary School security and is reviewing it before he makes his next move.

Despite suing for $100 million, the lawyer, Irving Pinsky, says it’s not about the money, but “It’s about living in a world that’s safe. The answer is about protecting the kids.”

What specifically did his client, “Jill Doe,” suffer? When the school intercom was accidentally switched on she, heard gunfire, screaming and conversations that he believes will leave emotional scars.

That some if not many of those involved in the incident will receive emotional scars seems to be beyond a doubt, but as to whether the state can be held accountable is another matter. The state attorney general said Monday that there is no basis to his claims, nothing to support the suit.

Pinsky will scrutinize the new evidence and decide whether he will pursue his claims that the Board of Education failed to implement an effective student safety emergency plan.
