Munger, Tolles & Olson LLP Names Four Partners

Beginning on January 1, 2013, the law firm of Munger, Tolles & Olson LLP will welcome Daniel B. Levin, Miriam Kim, Misty M. Sanford and Katherine H. Ku to its partnership, according to a press release from the firm. Three of the four are women, adding to the diversity of the firm.

“We are proud to welcome these esteemed colleagues to our partnership. We believe their great legal talent and diversity will strengthen our law firm and serve our clients and the community well into the future.” Sandra A. Seville-Jones, the managing partner for Munger Tolles, said in the press release.

Levin practices complex litigation and appeals. Levin previously worked as the deputy chief of Criminal Appeals for the Los Angeles U.S. Attorney’s Office. Levin graduated with his J.D. from Yale Law School. He worked as a clerk for U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Judge William A. Fletcher from the Ninth Circuit.

Kim practices intellectual property, internal investigations and complex civil litigation. Kim also runs a pro bono practice for victims of sexual abuse. Kim is a member of the board of directors for the Asian American Bar Association. She received her J.D. at UC Berkeley School of Law. Kim was a clerk after law school for Judge Levin H. Campbell of the First Circuit.

Sanford focuses her practice on land use law and real estate. Sanford is one of the founders of For People of Color, Inc. The organization is non-profit and it helps students of color attend law school. Sanford is the president for the Los Angeles Neighborhood Land Trust. Sanford graduated from the UCLA School of Law with her J.D.

Ku works as a corporate lawyer focusing on corporate finance and mergers and acquisitions. Ku serves as a member of the board of directors and the chair of the Governance Committee for Partnership Scholars Program. Ku earned her J.D. from UCLA School of Law. Ku clerked for Judge Alex Kozinski from the Ninth Circuit. Ku also worked as a clerk for Justice Ginsburg.

Jim Vassallo: Jim is a freelance writer based out of the suburbs of Philadelphia in New Jersey. Jim earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications and minor in Journalism from Rowan University in 2008. While in school he was the Assistant Sports Director at WGLS for two years and the Sports Director for one year. He also covered the football, baseball, softball and both basketball teams for the school newspaper 'The Whit.' Jim lives in New Jersey with his wife Nicole, son Tony and dog Phoebe.
