Bowen School of Law Embraces Therapy Animals for Relieving Stress

In a very heartwarming and sympathetic gesture, the Bowen School of Law, at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock is bringing in therapy animals to help the stressed out final examinees. The students would be allowed to caress and pet the animals, which are registered therapy animals provided by Pet Partners of Little Rock.

In an email to students, June Stewart, associate dean of information services and library director, announced the news. The school would be bringing in the animals during the Reading week, beginning Wednesday and during the law exam finals from Dec 10-19. Stressed out test takers can take appointments for petting and hugging the dogs in the law library’s study rooms or pet the horse which would be held across the street in McArthur Park.

The email mentioned, “Two students are allowed per 20 minute session, so you may have to share a dog with another student or, if you would like, two of you may sign up together.” The email also mentions that a student may reserve more than one slot as long as they are not back-to-back.

The horse, named Porsche, seems quite popular, and one student sent an email for an appointment as soon as she received the news. Many students have requested appointments and the animals seem to be in line of gaining quite a big number of admirers.

Law school final exams can be horribly stressful, and our kudos goes to June Stewart for coming up with this idea of relieving stress.
