Apple Wants to Add More Samsung Products to Lawsuit

In a report from Reuters, Apple asked a federal court to add six products to the lawsuit regarding patent infringement that it filed against Samsung Electronics Co. One of the products includes the Samsung Galaxy Note II.

There are currently two lawsuits for patent infringement open in the U.S. District Court in San Jose filed by Apple against Samsung. Another lawsuit filed against Samsung by Apple yielded a $1.05 billion verdict from a jury on August 24 against Samsung.

Other products Apple hopes to add to the lawsuit include the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 Wifi, the Samsung Galaxy S III (running the operating system called Android Jelly Bean), the Samsung Galaxy S III Mini, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 and the Samsung Rugby Pro.

“Apple has acted quickly and diligently to determine that these newly-released products do infringe many of the same claims already asserted by Apple,” the company said in the filing on Friday.

The second lawsuit was filed by Apple back in February and it claims that Samsung products, both tablets and smartphones, infringed on eight of the Apple patents. The allegations were denied by Samsung, which filed a cross-complaint that claims Apple’s iPad and iPhone infringe on eight of its own patents. On November 15, a judge permitted Samsung to pursue allegations that the iPhone 5 infringes on one of its patents.
