Former U.S. Attorney, Patrick Fitzgerald, to Join Skadden

Patrick Fitzgerald, the former United States attorney, is prepared to join the law firm of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom next week. Fitzgerald is the longest-tenured United States attorney in the history of Chicago. He was named a partner in the firm’s Chicago office. The firm employs 1,800 attorneys in 23 offices across the world.

“Pat Fitzgerald is a person of national stature and is going to be an obvious choice for clients dealing with complicated allegations of wrongdoing.…I expect that in short order, he’ll be on everyone’s shortlist of lawyers well-equipped to do internal investigations. Fitzgerald is one of the most respected lawyers in America. Skadden clients will benefit from his unparalleled skills in the courtroom coupled with his well-deserved reputation for independence and integrity,” David M. Zornow said. Zornow is Skadden’s global head of Litigation/Controversy practices.

The head of the Skadden office in Chicago, Brian W. Duwe, said, “Pat’s extraordinary skills as an investigator and trial lawyer will complement our very talented team of litigators in Chicago. We are thrilled to have him join us.”

Fitzgerald stepped down from his post after 11 years on the job back in the month of May. He said, “The Skadden attorneys I have met from Chicago, New York and other offices are a superb group of lawyers. I am delighted to have the opportunity to work with them on matters in those cities and around the globe.”

The law firm issued a press release that said Fitzgerald is going to focus on “internal corporate investigations as well as civil litigation and arbitration.”
