Russell Crowe Needs Help of U.S. Coast Guard While Kayaking

While kayaking in water off of Long Island, New York, Russell Crowe became lost and had to be picked up by a U.S. Coast Guard boat. He was ferried to a harbor after the retrieval. Crowe began his day of kayaking at Cold Spring Harbor on Saturday afternoon, which is on Long Island Sound. The information was presented by U.S. Coast Guard Petty Officer Robert Swieciki. Crowe was out kayaking with his friend when the two of them got lost as the sun began to set. They had to beach their kayaks at Huntington Bay, which is 10 miles east of where they began.

Right around 10 PM ET, Crowe began calling out to a Coast Guard boat from the shore. Crowe and his friend paddled their kayaks towards the boat. They were pulled aboard the boat with their kayaks and taken to Huntington Harbor.

“He just needed a little bit of help, he just got a little lost,” Swieciki said. “It wasn’t really a rescue, really, more of just giving someone a lift.” Swieciki also said that both men were wearing life vests and neither had been injured. On Sunday morning, Crowe posted a tweet that said, “Thanks to Seth and the boys from the US Coast Guard for guiding the way…4 hrs 30 mins, 7m(11.2km).”
