Attendee of RNC Throws Nuts at CNN Camerawoman

On Tuesday, a person who was in attendance at the Republican National Convention in Tampa, Florida threw nuts at a black camerawoman while also making disparaging remarks to the woman about her ethnicity. The woman was filming for CNN. The person who threw the nuts at the woman said, “This is how we feed animals.” The person who threw the nuts was escorted out of the building by security, according to an official from CNN.

The official from CNN did not confirm details of the incident but pretty much confirmed what was posted on Twitter by David Schuster. Schuster worked for MSNBC as an anchor and now works in the same position with CNN. Schuster tweeted, “GOP attendee ejected for throwing nuts at African American CNN camera woman + saying ‘This is how we feed animals.’”

It is not known whether the accused in the incident was in attendance as a delegate or another capacity. CNN discussed the incident in a written statement that said, “CNN can confirm there was an incident directed at an employee inside the Tampa Bay Times Forum earlier this afternoon. CNN worked with convention officials to address this matter and will have no further comment.” Officials from the RNC have not commented about the incident.
